History of a word:  In earlier centuries it was common for there to be large shipments of manure.  It was, after all, needed for fertilizer and there was no faster way to ship.  It was dried first as it weighs less.  However, sometimes it was not stored properly and would get wet.  Methane gas would build up from the fermentation process and as soon as someone comes down into the hold with a lantern... BOOM.  People figured out what was happening and began stamping the bundles 'Ship High In Transit."  S.H.I.T.  I don't know if it is true, but it is what I've heard.  If anyone knows for sure, let me know! The one who came up with this either
